A FICTIONALISED CRIME THRILLER · INSPIRED BY A REAL MANHUNT

THE IMAM ALI OPERATION

“Suspicion can begin an investigation. Only evidence can finish it.”

Written & Directed by Ashwin Rao Pallakki · Series Pitch Bible
Pitch Logline

Justice, grief,
and the man in between.

When a fugitive linked to a decades-old case slips into Bengaluru under a new identity, ACP Aravind Rao is handed the manhunt of his career — and, without warning, a reckoning with the loss of his own wife. As disciplined city officer ACP Raghav Sangal insists on evidence over instinct, Aravind must decide whether he is chasing a fugitive to close a case, or a ghost to close a wound.

One-line Hook

A grieving officer. A vanishing fugitive. A city that never asks who’s watching.

Alternate Hook

Two officers. One instinct, one procedure. The line between duty and revenge runs straight through both.

Why This Project

USP of the Project

01

A Real Spine, A Fictional Heart

A documented police manhunt paired with a fictional protagonist whose grief gives every episode emotional stakes.

02

Two-City Pursuit

Tamil Nadu’s regional manhunt gives way to Bengaluru’s urban surveillance thriller — two textures, one chase.

03

Bilingual Dramatic Potential

Language, policing culture and city behaviour are storytelling devices, not just shooting locations.

04

Two Contrasting Heroes

Aravind’s instinct against Sangal’s procedure — no single super-cop, but a genuine professional rivalry.

05

Emotional Presence, Not Romance

Meera’s memory drives Aravind’s arc without a distracting romantic subplot.

06

Cliffhanger OTT Structure

Every episode is built on one investigative question and closes on a reversal or discovery.

07

Grounded Treatment

Procedure, surveillance and evidence generate suspense — not exaggerated action heroics.

08

Fact-Fiction Transparency

Documented fact, reported allegation and fictional drama are clearly distinguished throughout.

What It's Really About

Themes Covered

Justice vs. Revenge

A grieving man’s need for closure complicates an officer’s pursuit of duty.

Duty vs. Personal Trauma

Can Aravind stay a police officer when the case touches his deepest wound?

The Cost of Violence

Violence leaves consequences for officers, suspects and ordinary civilians alike.

Evidence vs. Assumption

Suspicion can open a case — only evidence can close it.

Institution vs. Individual

Instinct and experience meet disciplined procedure.

Grief & Letting Go

From living through revenge, to accepting that grief cannot be solved like a case.

Episode Spotlight

EPISODE 7 — THE HOUSE

By morning, the rented house on an ordinary Bengaluru lane is a sealed crime scene. Forensics catalogue an arsenal — assault rifles, detonators, grenades — while Aravind and Murali trace a dead man’s phone trail through a wiretap that suddenly comes alive. A stranger’s voice answers a call no one made.

CLIFFHANGER · “The network did not die with Ali.”

EPISODE 8 — THE UNFINISHED FILE

As Bengaluru moves on, headquarters wants the file closed — but the questions aren’t. In the archive, Aravind finds Meera’s photograph from an old case file and finally moves it from evidence to memory. At home, his mother Lakshmi watches him choose coffee over the telephone for the first time in years.

CLOSING LINE · “The threat was contained. The questions remained.”

Look & Feel

Visual World & Tone

01

A city put on lockdown

A multi-agency force, one street.

02

Plain sight

A man disappears in plain sight, one lane at a time.

03

Evidence first

The procedural core: evidence before assumption.

04

Domestic cost

The emotional cost of a case that never fully closes.

Grounded, procedural, low-key lit — a Bengaluru that looks lived-in, not styled.
